Make threads automatically named

Hello,
Im in need of help, im trying to develop something for my sit e. In a certain section of my site, when threads are created i want to make them named automatically, for example they need to be numbered like the previous thread was called "release #1" the new thread must be called "release 2"
i know its hard to explain but if anyone can help me let me know. thanks

i am going to do it myself, but can you point me in the right direction please, what would i need to do exactly
