Lack of interest Make Navigating Thread Prefixes More Efficient

Thread prefixes are great but having to load the forum_view page, scroll all the way to the bottom, click a hard to see tab, and then selecting the prefix from a drop down is not ideal at all.

One forum I am looking to convert to xenForo currently has over 1,000 forums. I would like to get rid of about 80% of those forums by using thread prefixes but our member base would find the current browsing implementation pretty much useless.

Selecting the prefix should be above the fold somewhere and not be lumped in with other search options.
