The MAC of a connected client device isn't exposed to the PHP application.

You can fetch it through javascript.

Only via really nasty methods such as Java applets and ActiveX controls. Both of which would require explicit user permission to do and be massively hindered by browser support.

I'm not aware of any methods to do this that would actually work in practise.

Fetching through JS requires activeX which needs to be allowed by the user so it'll be very hit and miss. Not to mention it's slightly underhanded and malicious.
