Looking forward now to 1.1

I have 2 sites in the queue fully styles and dev'd waiting for 1.1. Once it is released, I will buy 2 more licenses, upgrade locally, upload the sites, import the DBs. LAUNCH!

I have similar issues :) Unfortunately circumstances have meant that I have had to launch one early, without the functionality that 1.1 brings (i.e. on a promise) :)

I'll be happy whenever it arrives to be honest - i'm fully aware that programming timescales are always fluid anyhow, since there always a bunch of unknowns involved... Just glad that we have a great team in place to make these transitions as painless as possible :)

You know how obsessed us Brits are with the weather so don't get me started. Well as you mentioned it... looking out of the office window at grey/gray clouds (delete as appropriate) and drizzle. If the XenForo release schedule is done by the weather, then 1.1 is late. I'm sure I did remember some hot weather, but I think I blinked and it was gone :)

The main reason I want 1.1 (see attached image), auto group promotion! I can't wait for it :D Rather can't launch without it ^^

And ofc, all other features too :P

Is it really that gloomy looking over there all the time?

"waiting for 1.1"

like you knew a month ago what 1.1 would be about, or what you "needed" ..

How is anticipating a future release where no promise, but merely an estimate was made for, an issue.

Some people need to get over themselves.

As IF your licenses are completely useless when you buy them now and 1.1 comes out tomorrow, next week, month or quarter.

I am surprised you dont' have sites waiting for 1.2's release, because OMG - can you even imagine what new stuff will be in there? ..

We'll when I purchased XenForo I was very well aware of 1.1 xD And I estimated the time I'd take with my friend to develop our site, and also estimated the time when 1.1 may release.

Since our forum will depend heavily on group promotions (the only big thing I'm looking forward too, not saying other features aren't good they will help as well like custom profile fields) I'm indeed waiting for 1.1, without it our forum just wont be what we want it to be. And rather than waiting for 1.1 to release, then starting dev it's just better to start the dev process and then wait for 1.1 to finally launch :P

There's a difference between anticipation and simply being silly. Some people are just acting silly, I am surprised they aren't asking for a refund because 1.1 wasn't released yesterday.

But whatever. Needing it, anticipating it, wanting it, etc .. It will be out when it's ready, hopefully not sooner. I don't care if that's this year or next year. I can imagine they're a bit busy trying to pay bills, taking care of family, while fighting for their life in court to convince a jury that coding PHP and being good at it, isn't infringing on any pretend-trademark or made-up copyright.

Trust me, XenForo wants your money, and they want 1.1 out. But they want to do it right, do right by the users, and do it so it makes sense. It will be out when it's ready. They're hoping for a summer or end of summer release. If it takes longer, it takes longer. There's no announcement promising July 25th, or August 15th, or September 5th, or anything like that. Currently it's no further than "best intentions".

I think proper anticipation should only start once it rolls out on XenForo, and/or we see a first beta. A site owner should focus on stable releases, especially if they plan and develop a site that they believe is serious and needs what 1.1 brings. Going with facts, really helps a site. Going with silly .. not so much.

I don't care if that's this year or next year.

Of course you don't Floris, because you have already moved over to XenForo. But some of the vBulletin refugees waiting at the border do care. I really don't understand your issue with people getting excited, it's great to see enthusiasm, there is absolutely nothing wrong with prospective customers being vocal about their needs. The fact is a number of forum owners have stated they won't switch until 1.1 comes out and are eager to do so ASAP. You get this on any forum, for any subject, when waiting for the next "big thing".

Thanks for the clarification @Floris. I was thoroughly confused on what is the "appropriate" amount of anticipation we are allowed to have. But you were right about one thing, some people do need to get over themselves... (wink, wink)

To all those people who told me I couldn't tell the time, I very much can. I'm British and I was making a remark based on the fact we've had our 3 day allocation of Summer already this year.

You're free to have as much anticipation as you want. I am free to think some of it might be based on what I observe as somewhat silly arguments.

I saw the sarcasm in your post, so it wasn't completely wasted ;). Let the uptight ones get stressed out, maybe oneday they will pick up on the fun they miss out on :)
