XF 2 Looking for someone to install DokuWiki on my Xenforo site

Hello,

I'm looking for someone to install DokuWiki on my Xenforo website. I don't need a bridge. They don't need to use the same user database. It's ok for people having to sign up since I'm not allowing editing on the wiki anyway (except for 2 people) so it's all curated. My website is this: https://www.map-center.com/

I want a added wiki button that will lead users to the wiki (on the same domain of course). Ideally - if possible - adjust the wiki's appearance to match the theme of the website. Let me know if someone is interested in that.

Thanks!

Have you looked at the VaultWiki or XenCarta add-ons?

It would save on you on development costs for theming DokuWiki to match your forum, since it's all integrated into XenForo.

I suggest XenCarta because of the deep integration into Xenforo's content handling system.
DEMO: www.8wayrun.com/wiki

I think because @Jaxel mentions this in the overview:

XenCarta has full integration into XenForo's content handler system.

It enables wiki posts to be inserted essentially everywhere in Xenforo including:
thread posts
profile posts
Resource Manager, extra tabs in Resource Manager
direct messages
essentially everywhere I have tried.

Not to mention these addons:
Tickets
Thread Tabs
Collaborative Threads
probably every addon that uses XenForo's content handler system (which could be them all) ?

Pretty Amazing stuff.

To insert content
just use the bbcode:

Code:
[wiki=short]wikinotename[/wiki]

Yes, I did. I’ve seen a lot of posts about Vaultwiki having many bugs after each update and in general that it takes frequent maintenance to keep working properly.

From what I have read on these forums Xencarta has almost zero documentation or support. I need something that works and doesn’t eat up my time or waste my money by having to hire people to fix whatever is broken. DokuWiki seems like a safer bet.

plus I don’t need all that stuff.

You don't want to use your wiki information elsewhere on the site ?

What's the point of information not being used.

In fairness to XenCarta, it doesn't need documentation - it's very intuitive !
It integrates with the forum via a thread dedicated to each wiki entry (like the Resource manager) (if desired).

getting dokuwiki to even remotely resemble xenforo is going to be expensive and not that effective.

the guy to integrate dokuwiki would be @vbresults

To your point, Jaxel's support does suck. But his add-ons are rock solid. If something doesn't work, he will fix it. If you don't know the wiki syntax, you can look at his forum and see how things are done. You can view the syntax on all his pages: https://8wayrun.com/wiki/alpha-patroklos/#history

But if you do decide to go with DokuWiki, I wouldn't make the effort of making it look like XenForo, just make it match your theme. StarArmy has a pretty good example of using DokuWiki.

other options

You could even turn the resource manager into a wiki like structure.

1756316477012.webp

It would lack multiuser editing (as far as I know the RM doesn't have that).

You would just have two tabs [overview, discussion].

The benefits of a Xenforo solution is:
wiki items show up in Xenforo search.
wiki items can be used when posting anyone in Xenforo.

... example I could say....
"Here's a writeuup about XenCarta:"
[wiki=short]XenCarta[/wiki]
and the wiki contents would embed in the post.

It simply installs how to install, or by loading the files and writing the installation, I don't understand what's complicated also because if you don't know how to do this basic thing I don't understand how you can manage website that still requires constant updates…

The linking would be useful, but other than that, no. I understand you don't need any documentation, but for someone new to Xenforo it's pretty damn useful :)

Thank you for the recommendation!

Thanks for the tips. I came across Stararmy during my searches here and it's what gave me this idea. I send a DM as well, but no reply yet.

Seems like you don't understand a lot and I don't understand the point you're trying to make here other than taking a jab at me ;)

Perhaps @MySiteGuy for the install (and styling?)

And @Russ for the styling if not the above

I'm not kidding you... I've provided a step-by-step guide explaining the installation process, which is incredibly simple. Just upload the filesanf launch the installation file.
It takes 1 minute and is incredibly easy.

I will do it for free if you want. It would only take me a couple of minutes; however, I would not be able to do the theme other than basic colors.

That's good stuff, I'll remember that, thanks!

Oh, that is your guide? Then I misunderstood your first post, my bad.
