Is this possible? My XF2 is capping it at 155 characters for the forum meta description.

Is there something I can add to page_container to make it longer?

Search for -> meta name="description" in templates or '155' and change to 300 ;)

<meta property="og:description" is for facebook, not sure how many characters they use but this is already set on 300 i see.

<meta property="twitter:description" you can also change, but also not sure if they are still showing 140 or 280 now. This is set to 200 (same as on xf1).

And they are shorter again...

A valid point is made here (does not matter how long they are).

"In fact, a recent study conducted by Yoast showed most of the snippets Google shows are not from the meta description, but rather they are from the content on your web pages."

Same as for structured data descriptions (or articleBody), google caps them at 200 in webmaster tools but if longer should not matter.
