Locations: Interactive Maps for Threads - Browse by Location - Add interactive maps and location-based discovery to XenForo threads

Introduction

M2N Locations brings powerful location-based functionality to XenForo, allowing your members to add real-world locations to threads and browse that content on interactive Google Maps.

Hello folks,

I'm really pleased to introduce Locations, a new addon from M2N. I think it is one of the most useful and flexible addons we have created.

I first conceived the idea in early 2025 and, with the help of a brilliant developer, we have evolved and refined it through real-world use on my two largest forums, while also shaping it into a general-purpose addon for other XenForo communities.

You can already see it in action on AVForums, where it powers the map for our Classifieds and allows locations to be added optionally to adverts. It is also used on MGEVs for our dealer finder, where it enables location-led threads, with one thread for each dealer and the map placed front and centre in the forum view.

Locations is designed to be intuitive for members and flexible for admins. I have also created detailed accompanying documentation for those who want to understand the setup options, configuration choices and more advanced features.

I'm looking at using this add-on on my website. We've got thousands of locations and tens of thousands of 'site reports' of those locations.

What pricing model does the add-on use. On individual listings / reports are they 'static'? What's the overview map use?

Is there a way to implement this on existing threads?
