Live Content [Paid] 1.5.4

No permission to buy ($25.00)
Would it be possible to include an activity block below the last message, to show someone is typing a new message? Perhaps “Username is currently trying…”. Or an icon or something of the sort to let members reading the thread know a new message is coming.

Xon updated Live Content with a new update entry:

1.5.0 - XenForo 2.3 support

  • Require StandardLib v1.22.0+
  • Add support for conversations
  • Add support for thread type template overrides to Posts loaded by LiveContent
  • Add cache timeout option to control local browser cache time.
    This setting controls how long (in seconds) before cached content is erased from the browser's local storage.<br />
    Setting this value too high can lead to very active users filling up their...

Best to fully uninstall any previous versions before updating to v1.5.0. I had v1.2.3 installed but inactive and after upgrading the forum and admin panel were inaccessible due to a fatal error. After disabling add-ons I was able to get back in and remove the old version.

Thanks for this. I have a lot of your add-ons which are invaluable to our forum. I've just purchased now its suitable for 2.3

I'm hopeful to have only selected threads in 1 forum to be enabled for live content. I also only want people in a user upgrade usergroup to be able to view live content on threads. To try and achieve this;

1. In Forum nodes I unchecked this

1741968410448.webp

2. In node permissions I enabled the below for admins;

1741968466689.webp

3. Within threads, I can see 'Start live thread', and I enable this;

1741968501584.webp

Testing as an admin with "view live threads" marked as "yes" - But nothing seems to happen to that thread - I'm posting in it as a test account on another device, and the posts aren't appearing without refresh.

I figure I've made a mistake somewhere - sure would appreciate some guidance. If I enable the below, it works great so it must be me misunderstanding permissions...

Upgrading from v1.2.3 => v1.5.0 is fully supported. Did you update my StandardLib add-on first?

What error messages did you receive?

That configuration should work. With that live thread enabled and not for all forums, can you check your javascript console and see if "Live Content - connecting" is printed? It is possible the 'slow polling' mode is just taking a while to detect there is new content.

I'll be able to have a look on Monday, as this weekend is already booked out time-wise.

I did update StandardLib right before. I had 1.2.3 (may have been 1.2.2) in a disabled state after I upgraded from XF2.2 to 2.3 on the system. After copying over the new 1.5.0 version the site became inaccessible. Later after I disabled add-ons and then was able to get to the Admin CP I did see many XF template errors with different files. There were likely hundreds or thousands, I cleared them out so don't have them at the moment.

Once I uninstalled the old version the site was accessible with addons enabled.

v1.5.2 will have some fixes related to debugging this, should have those out on monday.
