Suggestions (could be implemented as "optional"):


1)
Show the "Category Name" for each Link.

2)
use exactly the same "Yellow Stars"-image as XenForo is using.
Those are looking nicer and it would be more consistent.

3)
Show the "Member Name" (which is showing for each Link) to logged-in Members only.

4)
Show the "Number of Clicks" (which is showing for each Link) to logged-in Members only.

5)
the small overlay (Screenshot Preview) should probably have its own Link.
Not showing the "Screenshot Preview" when hovering over the "Title".

6)
make the image-size bigger (bigger than 96px by 96px) so there will be more space to fit in some text and make the font-size a little bit bigger. Should be a similar font-size as at Google-Search-Results.

There could be 3 different image-sizes, so that the XF-Admin could choose by himself as to which image-size he prefers.
For example:
96 x 96 / 196 x 196 / 236 x 236


7) Innovation (see mockup below):
when you click the Link named "Screenshot" then it opens the Screenshot in the big black-colored Overlay.
This "Overlay" should have arrows (left arrow and right arrow) which will show you the next Screenshot.
So the user can literally browse through many Screenshots by just clicking the left-arrow or right-arrow at the Overlay.

Additionally, this "Screenshot" in the Overlay should have a Link or should be click-able, so that you can go from this Screenshot to the linked website, e.g. CNN.

it seems there is a small bug:

when clicking on the link named "Screenshot", then it often shows the wrong screenshot (the screenshot of another website) on the big black-colored Overlay.
Sometimes it does not show any screenshot at all, just showing the blank overlay.

Sometimes there is also a delay until it shows the correct screenshot.

You will see this effect when clicking on several Screenshot-Links.

is it possible to store the screenshot-images on my own server instead of pulling them all the time from a third-party server ?

Please make sure if you implement something we can switch it off.
I would like to keep it simple, nice and clean.

And the most important
I would like a cron that can check for the open graph image and update when necessary.
I would like all links to have an open graph image. If there is no open graph image available maybe make a screenshot 96x96 pixels and put in where the open graph image goes.
If they update the website and the cron runs again and find a open graph image, use the open graph image.

FYI, I reverted ld_index which resolved it.

I much preferred the ratings stars being right justified ( thought https://xenmade.com/linkdirectory/ had it that way yesterday? ) at the end of the row.
Now the listings are looking very busy and cramped.

How do we...

1. remove and disable ratings? I have "likes" so we don't need ratings AND likes.
-- I also set permission for people to NOT be able to rate, but the gray stars still appear. They shouldn't be visible for anyone who can't rate, or we should be able to disable rating.

2. How do I get the URL to NOT be present under the title? I am only displaying the title, thumbnail, and like button. To have the original url displayed is pointless for us.

Have them commented out for now.

Bigger does not work!
I had to find a middle ground! Not every website offers "great" pictures!

If tags get implemented, please provide an option to completely remove and disable it.

I like it as a very simple link script and I just want people to click ON the LINK.

Too much around the link is distracting. Look at it this way - you're letting people submit links, but if you put all these other things around it - ratings, tags, etc, - they're all distractions.

No one likes submitting links to places that don't get a lot of clicks.

If you want to increase your clicks, then minimize the distractions.

There is an option to disable, but hold only both (Overlay and Link)

Normally! A Screenshot must be generated also first of all (it does not exist per se)

What I mean is that I prefer to keep this as simple as possible - a title, a link, and a picture.

I don't like useless clickable distractions.
