XF 1.4 Limit Content in Feeder Application

I want to pull in feeds from other sources using the Feeder application. I've already performed some testing and noticed that the entire articles are being posted. How do I restrict the content to a specific number of characters or words?

There is no configurable option for that.

It would require custom development.
