So I can't figure out why the likes/reactions are not visible on either of our forums.
I checked permissions and they seem Ok, with guests/members allowed to react to posts, messages, threads.
What else can I check?
Hi,
A few things to check, roughly in order of how often they turn out to be the cause in threads like this:
1. Are you testing on your own posts? You can never react to your own content, so the Like link simply does not show there. Log in with a second account, or look at a post written by someone else. Since both of your forums show the exact same symptom, a testing-method issue like this one (or a shared style/add-on, see below) is the most likely common cause.
2. Test with a completely unmodified default style. If the Like link comes back, the culprit is your custom style: check Appearance > Templates > Outdated templates, especially if this appeared after the 2.3 upgrade. If both forums run the same third-party style, that would explain both breaking at once.
3. Check Admin CP > Content > Reactions and make sure at least one reaction is enabled. If they were all disabled (for example after removing a custom reactions add-on), the bar disappears entirely.
4. Rule out add-ons: disable them all temporarily, or if the sites share a reactions/post-related add-on, start with that one.
5. Run Groups & permissions > Analyze permissions for a real member in a specific forum and look at the final value of "React to content". A "Never" coming from a secondary user group, or a node-level revoke, will not show up on the permission screens you normally look at.
6. If none of that helps: open the browser console (F12) and check for JavaScript errors on a thread page, and search your style's extra.less for any old "display: none" rule targeting the reactions bar.
One more note: the row showing received reactions ("X and Y reacted to this") only renders on posts that actually have reactions. On a quiet forum, its absence is normal; the thing to look for is the Like link at the bottom right of someone else's post.
Best regards
