License for Development Copy of Client Site

I have a client who owns a copy of XF. The client wants me to customize it. To develop those customizations, I would like to copy the client's site to my test server, where no one but the client and me ever see it.

Do I have to buy the same type of license as I would for running XF as live site?

Any information you can provide would be much apprecited. For what it is worth I want to say, I have come to see this is some special software. I am very pleased to have an opportunity to work with it.

On my own installation, I can let a demo run for a few months.

Admin demo does not provide the time people like taking getting comfortable with systems.

Well Don Allon, as Mouth has said it's not a strictly limited trial if you're using it for that length of time. I suggest you buy your own license and chalk it up as a business expense.

Buy your own license, create a style(s), give the client(s) a logon.

Thank you for that suggestion, that is exactly what I have done. This approach makes it possible to have any number of forums all operating on one installation. They cannot see one another. They look completely different, it is really cool.

At least that is what I think I am seeing.
