Is there an option between made by xenforo or made by third party ?

Is it possible to have options in between this dichotomy ?

Let's work with an example, let's say a CMS/HomePage addon.

Option A: wait for a CMS/HomePage Addon made by Xenforo.
- people want this, mostly because admins are fearful the addon will break ... and no one will be there to fix it.
- problem: it could be years (longer?) for xenforo to make all the addons people want.

Option B: get a third party CMS/HomePage.
- good options are available now.
- problem: people worry about support.
- developers feel that they can't charge much. Developers lack the infrastructure to support their addon.

So it seems we are stuck in this outdated dichotomy.
We need an option C !
Can any developers suggest options that might work for them and Xenforo ?

I suppose option C would be to use a completely separate, independent system.

Option C: Hire a great and experienced coder to make you a custom forum software.
It can be pricey, but it's well worth it.

Considering the amount of time it has taken to develop XenForo, there is no reason that option A would take years.

That's Option B.
I myself trust many of the good coders who hang out here.
I wonder if there are good Option Cs that work for coders and work for Xenforo.

A CMS addon would be feasible when all the technical requirements have been worked out on 'what' a CMS is.

I only use the CMS as an example.
I am more interested in what people see as possible agreements between xenforo, customers and addon developers to create a "Software ecosystem".

Essentially I am looking for ideas to generate a novel developer community where:
(1) Developers have incentive to make addons AND provide ongoing support. Developers need $$$ incentive.
(2) Xenforo customers have access to a great variety of plugins.
(3) Xenforo becomes the dominant player in forum software by keeping (1) and (2) going.

Option A = Addons mostly made by Xenforo.
Option B = Addons mostly made by Addon developers
Option C = ?
