XF 1.5 Is there a way to rebuild the attachment_data table?

A friends site was hacked and several tables were missing. I helped get them close to fixed but the attachment_data was one of the tables.
My question is can that table be rebuilt? I can see the attachments on the server and the attachment ID in the post.

There isn't any function to rebuild the xf_attachment_data table.

Is there any backup of the database?

Not exactly but I was able to piece together something that works but doesn't cover all the attachments.
Was just wondering if there was an update I could run to populate that whole table again.

This isn't a table that can be rebuilt -- it contains data that only exists in that table (and other tables reference the IDs in this table too). A backup would really be the only option.

Alright, thanks for the replies guys. I figured that was the case but wanted to ask the pros before crossing it off the list.
