Advantages:
- show on our Profile-Page which "Tags / Topics" you are interested in
- Users with common interests will find each other easily
- find threads based on your personal interests easily

I like the idea of having user tags. Can call them whatever you want. Good idea.

it is literally the same "tags" we already have with XenForo 1.5
Just giving the user the ability to add some "tags" to his Profile-Page.

Thereby it is easy and quick to find other users with common interests and therefore fuel discussion.
Also, you can find threads based on your interests immediately after filling-in your Profile-Page with these "interests".


It is not a big deal to implement this.
It is just the ability to put the already existing "tags"-system onto the "User Profile".



My mockup above is not great from a "design perspective".
It needs to be made a bit "nicer".

I found a very nice example for this suggestion:

In this example, the Tags are named "Skills".


Tag-Cloud
(in this example, the Tag-Cloud is named "Popular Skills"):

(in this example, the Tags are named "Skills") - see the Sidebar at the left:

Resource Manager / Member-List
this might be an example for the ability to filter the RM and the Member-List by "Tags" or "Skills":

I found an interesting Forum which is using something like this suggestion:

Example:

You can "Like" the "Tags" and the "Liked Tags" show up at your "Profile-Page".
It also shows the overall "number of Likes" for each Tag.

Check out user essentials. I didn't include all the features but I did make it so users can add tags to their profile.

If you "Like" a "Tag", then this "Tag" shows up at your "Profile Page".
