XF 2.0 Influx of spam since last upgrade

Have anyone experienced a sudden surge of spams since the last upgrade 2.0.9? I was virtually spam free (may be a couple in a month) for a long time since I adopted registration timer and google nocaptcha, but in last 1 week, I have hundreds of spams all of a sudden. No change in legit traffic trend though.

I doubt it would be related to upgrading to 2.0.9

You may not have seen it, but the xenforo.com forums have also experienced a lot of spam lately.

I suspect there is someone out there who has worked out a way to circumvent the common antispam measures and has started to deploy spambots against XenForo sites.
