Forums are all about discussion. Why in "fresh" and "intuitive" forum software like XenForo threads' pagination still exists? It's not 1990. We have possibilities to kill it once for all. Discourse shows how thread view should looke like: there's no neeed for pagination because next posts are loaded without any page refresh; the only thing we need to do is scroll down.

Will XenForo implement feature like this?

I am not a fan of infinite scrolling. But it definitely can be implemented in a way that Google understands. A lot of news websites essentially change your URL as you scroll down to a different news story.
As of last year

Google’s Martin Splitt had to remind SEOs and site owners that Googlebot doesn’t scroll through pages.

When infinite scrolling is implemented on a web page it can cause issues with how the content is indexed in Google Search.

this is easily resolvable by having page number links at the top of the page. the problem being described would apply in cases of poor implementation where links to individual pages just do not exist anywhere.

What's the point of infinite scroll if you already have pagination links?

I see that people like this add-on and there have been many suggestions for improving it. In a few months, I will start releasing add-ons that will modernize all the legacy parts of the XF interface. And this addition will be in this pack, but in an improved form.

A lot of interesting things are waiting for you!

P.S.
Regarding the dispute about the CEO:
First, the add-on leaves the top pagination for easy navigation to farther pages.
And secondly, guys, search robots are now much smarter than it is commonly believed. And the position in the search engine now mostly depends on the content that is posted on the forum. If you have boring and non-unique content, then no amount of SEO advice will help you.

P.P.S.
WCAG is only a guideline, not a strict standard that you must adhere to. Your site / forum is the same creativity and we know what creativity has no restrictions. If everyone followed the standards, we would not get far and everything would be the identically.

Think less about small things in SEO, and more engaged in making a good resource by itself, then there will be no problems with SEO :)
