Can’t go wrong with the @digitalpoint add-on and the development and support is top notch.
But to be clear the first link there isn’t actually an add-on, exactly. It just ships the Amazon AWS SDK and it mostly acts as a tutorial.
That tutorial and the SDK download should also work with Cloudflare R2 though of course the specific instructions are written for DO and S3. Essentially all of these are practically drop in replacements for Amazon S3 and there are many others out there including Wasabi and Backblaze B2.
you would just go with the regular XenForo installation. The only price you pay is to your hosting provider, and in 2024 you can get hundreds of Gigabytes for very very cheap. Ease of setup is zero, you will not need any Utilities and the Customer Support here is top notch.
We have 2024 and complicated setups because storage is expensive is no longer the case. If you have a super busy forum then for less than $300 dollars you get 7 TB along with 80 cores and 256 GB RAM if you want to go self-hosted.
AWS is a huge hassle to setup I strongly recommend against it. Best way is to use the cloud XenForo already offers and you have a monetized community. If you love computers as we all do, I would get a server to play with but the technology to use third party providers to host attachments is a bit complicated.
