Importer question

Can i import from a vb3.8 db in one database to a fresh database, i.e. i want to test everything first and thus use two separate db's on different servers, but both accessible.

Yes, you can. Importing does not affect vBulletin's database, it just reads information from it and writes the information back to the XenForo's one, so you may continue using both of them.

Yes you can setup a forum with a separate database to test the import. But normally you need to have both databases on the same server since most MySQL servers don't allow remote connections.
