XF 1.5 Image Issue

#1
Hey guys,

My users are having issues posting images. For example... when using the picture icon in the menu above on my forum with this url: http://www.gamblinggurus.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/GGs-Google-Search-Featured-Snippet.jpg

It looks good initially, but then if I refresh the browser - it looks like this:

AGDIssue.png

If I go to EDIT the post, I see this:

AGDIssue2.png

Then, when I save changes I see the image as it should be again (like I do when I first post). But then refresh and POOF. Back to the broken image tag looking thingy.

Any ideas what I have to do to get this working properly? I hope I explained it well.

That image resource appears to be sensitive to the referrer. So basically it works if you load it directly but not as an inline image on your web site. This is a restriction on the hosting server.

The image proxy feature might allow it to work:

Admin CP -> Home -> Options -> Messages -> Image and Link Proxy

Yep, I did something similar for a while when I had folks grabbing images to be served from one of my sites... then I changed it from where it refused to serve one to serving one about stealing bandwidth as a replacement image.

You may find the Convert Image add-on of use as well. One of my pet-peeves is trying to read a good (old) informational thread, but the images are missing since they have been removed from the original source. (n) @AndyB's add-on fixes that issue!
