Ignore Content [Paid] 4.0.6

Guys I'm so damn blind or something, I can't find the "Ignore Thread" option when inside a thread, or in a forum listing. I'm an admin on the forum (obviously) and the Ignore Thread button does not appear to be in the area as shown in the addon's screenshots here.

Can someone point my blind self to where I'm supposed to be looking?

Or is there a setting that I'm completely missing?

Hi there,

You need to set the permissions under Usergroup & permissions > Usergroup > Registered > Ctrl + F = Ignore > Yes

Thanks, actually, that's already set, however I just figured out what the issue was after being an idiot and double checking after you mentioned this - when you are "Watching" a section or a thread, the Ignore Thread option is not there. DERP.

The button and function still appears in Threads of nodes which are selected in the list?

It's just apply to ignore forums.

@PumpinIron - your forum looks great. As someone who has experience using this, do you have any complaints? Does it work in search results too? I planned on doing this via custom profile fields and user group permissions - I didn't know there was an add-on for this. Now I'm trying to figure out which route to go.

No complaints whatsoever. Everyone who uses this feature on my forum really seems to like it. I haven't actually tested it out in search results, and I never even bothered looking at user group permissions. Why would you want to set user group permissions for it? Possibly so that paid members could have access to the feature while non-paying members wouldn't?

What I meant is not using the add-on at all. Achieving the same purpose of the add-on, but without it. It can be done using a mix of user groups, user group promotions, and certain permissions. You can essentially create an account preference that asks what forums the user would like to hide and then they become hidden from them.

Regardless, the add-on seems to be a solid and maybe faster way to do this. My way means not having an extra add-on in your forum (that could eventually cause errors) but it is a few extra steps.

Ahhh, I see what you're saying.

My reason for not doing that is that I don't like to get too in-depth with the user groups and permissions. Once you start adding too many of them, you can quickly find yourself in a cluster f**k of permissions and will encounter issues like why can't so-and-so view this or do that.

My main thing was that I have a member of my site who's son was killed by a gun. He didn't want to have to see all the gun discussions that take place in the off-topic (which I totally understand) since it was a very sensitive subject for him, and he just didn't want to be baited into responding to some of those threads.

I'm honestly not sure how many others use it, but at least they know that if they see a thread that might offend them, they can simply click ignore and never have to see it again. The threads they ignore don't show up in the new posts widget, or anywhere else that I've found. It literally hides them completely.

That may be a theme-related issue, but have you tried to go to the management panel directly? For example, on my forum the link is: https://www.rdforum.org/index.php?account/ignored&key=tl_ignore_forum

Just add your forum URL to the front of: /index.php?account/ignored&key=tl_ignore_forum
