You might want to consider something like this if you want more actively updated content, findable content, like-able content, moderateable content.

I don't dispute the forum rats here use pages, they just aren't typical admins on typical xenforo sites.

If Xenforo had robust pages, the Xenforo Manual would be a tab.

In terms of CMS ... @Bob makes amazing CMS style add-ons that are robust and solid enough to practically be 1st party add-ons.

Can confirm. You voice criticism when warranted. But that's not enough in the eyes of some. You must completely transform yourself into an enemy of the people and continually remind everyone why you are more superior to everyone else because you've found what you deem to be a better forum solution and vehemently express negative opinions about everything else otherwise you're just a silly fan boy.

I've never seen pages being used in the wild. not one.

Here is another website in the wild using them. I think more people would use pages, if there was an easy way to display a single post or the first post of a thread within a page / widget. The current workaround using search forums and a widget is a roundabout way... but it works. An official portal / cms add-on would solve so many problems and I am sure many people would be willing to pay for it.

Depends on your needs.

Invision gives you all these things out of the box on the supposition you're going to use them - but you may or may not. Calendar for example is very hit and miss whether it's useful, ditto gallery. The sites that need these things really need these things, but the sites that don't... really don't.

The price comparison was clearer when Invision let you pick and mix the choices of modules, but for many sites, Invision is more expensive to purchase and renew, because it includes things you won't use.

I can't speak to your specific needs, but I guarantee not every site needs all the things.

So we pay 500$ for pages and calendar? You don't say.
You can do that for free with PhpBB3, now XF offers pages too but that's not for dummies it needs some knowleage about coding.
I admit I like the invison disigne but they have lot of weak points like their user blocking system and the reputation system.
In fact we must say each platform has its good and not so good parts, but the invison's price is crazy.

I like the pages on XF. It's easy to work with, and you can style it however you want. The only thing that would make it even more easier is a drag and drop system. Not only on pages, but the whole system.

I used to use the free version of invision as it was easy to use. But since it added adverts to it the whole thing was a load of trash.
Go to the full version and it's like it's an over moderated, strict, expensive (they asked us to pay every 6 months).
Head to vBulletin you pay yearly not a problem. But you need to literally fill out forms.
Head here to xf. Forms are filled out for you. Reasonably priced, smaller customer support team who literally work in the uk. With some remotely working overseas.

You can't please everyone.

Side navigation for pages is standard for other nodes - forums, pages, etc.

But yes, if you want additional navigation then you can use the option posted above.
