XF 2.2 HTML Widget help

Newb question, sorry.

I want to create a widget on just one forum. It's a basic HTML two column table that I create just using td and tr tags. When I try to save it I get a syntax error about only using letters and numbers.

What am I doing wrong? It's set as an HTML widget. Thanks

I presume you're trying to use invalid characters in the widget key.

Can you screenshot the page?

I figured it out. But now how do I put it on one specific node? I don't want it on all the nodes. Thanks!

I guess, you can try use "Display condition". Something like $forum.node_id == 123, where 123 - your node id.

Is widgets the best way to add advertisement ads to certain nodes and pages?
Let’s say I have advertisement on all pages (right top sidebar.)

But on a few of those I don’t want the side bar to show. I want all other ads to show, like top ads and bottom ads not not side bar ads.

how could I accomplish this without being affected after upgrades to xf ( meaning not making edits in templates so I don’t have to worry when upgrading )

because the way I see XF working, if you add the page to the do not show ads on these pages. It kills all ads ( if I’m correct)

The ad templates are typically used to display ads.

However, there are no hard and fast rules - you can use ad templates, widgets, or edit the templates directly.
