XF 2.2 How to turn off Advanced Search for guests?

I have been looking at the search functions, and it seems that I can't turn off the advanced search for guests. I thought it was located here in the user group permissions for Search Options. But turning that on and off for guests doesn't seem to have any effect:



I am trying to give guests a bare bones search function to try and entice them to register. Right now they have a full functioning search option - the same as our senior members. Does anyone have a clue how to turn off Advanced Search for guests without using a plugin? Thanks!

Preventing guests from finding answers to their questions will most likely encourage them to register... That's for sure.

Or make them find another site that allows them to find the answer that they need.

I am not suggesting to turn off the search completely. I am asking how to turn off the advanced search for certain user groups like guests.

I've been running my forum for 25 years now, so I am aware how guests behave

What do you mean by 'advanced' search?

There is only a single permissions related to search:



The other permission must be from an add-on so you will need to post in the resource thread for assistance with it.

That just links to the main search page: https://xenforo.com/community/search/

If the unregistered user group can search then they can also access that page so removing the button would achieve nothing.
