XF 1.5 How to setup email confirmation

Hello,

I am very new to Xenforo, and I have no idea how I'll set up email confirmation, and why the default isn't working. Below is a screenshot of my current settings, I tried checking the spam folder and it's not there. I have trouble with complex terminology so if anyone could show me an easy to follow, step-by-step guide it would be very appreciated.

EDIT: Update, I got Amazon SES and it's verifying my domain right now, but I still need a guide if possible.

Bump, also extra info: I've changed my settings, here's a photo of it:

but it shows this error in the error log:

Zend_Mail_Protocol_Exception: Email to myemail@gmail.com failed: Could not read from email-smtp.us-west-2.amazonaws.com - library/Zend/Mail/Protocol/Abstract.php:385

myemail@gmail.com -» email that I used to re/send the e-mail confirmation.
