The TABS that you have underlined in red are part of one of XF's several Content Type Handlers called "FindNew". Any content type can implement a FindNew Handler. Part of implementing a FindNew Handler is creating a Template Modification that adds a Tab(s) for the Content Type to the
You can disable any TM that adds links to the whats new wrapper template, so if you don't want the 2 media tabs, just disable the whats_new_wrapper TM for XFMG (which adds two tabs, one for media and another for comments).
You can also edit the whats_new_wrapper template to remove any of the core Find New tabs that are hard coded in that template.

How to add the ability to see new topics that were opened on the forum?
It is strange that no one is interested in such a question, the main thing on the forum is messages and topics. Signals about new messages are everywhere, signals about new topics are not. There is only a widget that was added a year ago.
