how to check if cache is active?

I activated xcache because my hosting said I'm using to much cpu and ram.

How can I check if xcache is working or not? I don't have access to the shell.
I can't see speed improvements... and the server continue to crash.

I was thinking that in phpinfo there was only infos about if xcache was available or not, but there are infos about the state of the cache too.
