XF 1.4 How to Apply Rich Usernames on News Feed

As title.

I've tried adding rich="true" to some of the news feed templates to no avail. What am I missing?

It won't be a simple change because there's more than one template per content type, and I think in each case the username is passed to a phrase as a variable.

Also, I don't think there's a template helper just to output display style markup (It would always include the username).
