How to Add Users to a Group during Registration Approval ?

I have created an user group and want to have a choice of adding a new member to a particular user group while approving their membership.

How do I accomplish this ?

Create a user group promotion and set the criteria as 'user state is valid'.

Suppose I have 2 membership - Basic and Pro
I want to manually approve both types of membership. If I set user group promotion criteria - 'user state is valid'
then both the basic as well as Pro members be added to the 'Custom User group'
or is it not the case ?

If there is no way of programatically determining which user should be in the pro group, then you would need to manually add them.

Actually I want to manually approve and add the members to a particular user group during the approval itself.

For Example : See image attached.



In the approval queue itself, an option like 'Add user to user group' with all user groups selection option like - Admin, moderator, registered, Custom User Group 1, Custom User Group 2 etc.

That would require custom development -- the only way to do it out of the box would be to open the user in the control panel and adjust the group there.
