XF 2.1 How often is the sitemap rebuilt? What triggers it?

I've been working with a test installation and had some threads and resources that were a couple months old (over 70 days for some) and they were still not appearing in the sitemap. I had to manually rebuild the sitemap through tools for them to show up.

I assumed this was a cron based update. I would think the hundreds of page loads I've done myself over the last couple months testing would have at least triggered the sitemap to rebuild once and pick up some of the oldest posts and resources. Only thing showing in the sitemap prior to the manual rebuild was 3 links: the main forum, admin user, and one other which I can't remember right now (might of been resource manager main page), so it appears the sitemap never updated from the original install date months ago.

Looking for enlightenment...

I assumed this was a cron based update.

It is. It runs every other day, I believe.

First port of call is to make sure the Cron entries are actually running. Particularly the "Next run" date for each entry listed should be a date in the future.
