How much space for attachments?

Traditionally we have only allowed attachments for supporting members, but because they are so much nicer with XF we are thinking about opening them up to all members.

For those of you who allow attachments, how much space do you find they use? Do you prune old attachments? Does it hog up bandwidth or cause other problems?

Any other feedback or comments also appreciated.

XF seriously needs an attachment quota management system. I made a feature suggestion here but it was blown off.

The problem is two-fold: 1) XF makes it too easy to attach files, and 2) unlimited attachment capabilities will be abused by members. We have both issues right now, and are doing a limited shutdown of attachment permissions, which may spread forum wide if the abuse does not stop.

Is that all? That's good. Have you set a max size?

We currently have a 750GB disk, and I was thinking about upgrading to a 2TB drive - not sure we need to now.
