How do you use the XenForo search?

For some reason, forum search engines just do not work for me.

It took me at least 6 attempts for it to show me @Chris Deeming's Addon install and upgrade addon...

And now I can't find the addon that checks for a XenForo license... (if anyone can link me, thanks ;)).

So, how do you use the XenForo search system, and what am I doing wrong?

Liam

I searched for addon install upgrade a few times, nothing...
It's not called that, that's why.

Sometimes it's just a case of being less specific. You probably wouldn't find it in a title search for "Install and Upgrade" either because it's titled "Install & Upgrade".

One thing which is maybe obvious but often annoys me as I forget.

Make sure you untick "search this forum only"

Can we set this is unticked by default? I think this would help my users greatly - better to give them too many results than no results.

It's just a pain...

If it used an OR system, it would work fine, but no...

Oh well...
Or, you'd get completely irrelevant results. By default each word is required, if you want to use "OR" use | to separate the terms. Example: install |and |upgrade

Oh, didn't even notice. My bad (even though I wasn't the one that bumped it).

Either way, that's how you can do it though ;)
