How can I disable Rich Text Editor by default?

Basically I want the simple plain text editor with the "Use Rich Text Editor" link at the bottom to be the default editor.

I don't like the WYSIWYG editor and how it handles cut & paste material.

I know if I uncheck "use the Rich Text Editor" in the options, then there is no way of reverting back to the Rich editor.
I know there are "Remove formatting" and "BB Code Editor" buttons.

Regardless, for the sake of simple usability (not all users are experienced enough), how can I have the Rich Text Editor disabled by default?

But you are correct... when that preference is disabled there is no inline option to enable RTE.
