Hosting recommended to disable Dovecot web server

Hi, I am with Hostgator and my Xenforo site have never worked properly, they said the db has issues and it's a very busy site, among other things, that I don't know how to do, they recommended me to disable Dovecot web server.

"I am seeing that the new cPanel Dovecot Solr search service is running on your server, and this can be a quite memory intensive system to have running, and it may be beneficial to disable this, as the memory could be used by your other services to improve performance."

I'd login via CP and did disable that as they'd ask since it was easy for me to do, I am not tech savvy at all, this is all I can see now, it's been like that since forever, this is inside the CP (I don't know whether it finished the configuration or not):

The system configured the new mailserver in the cpanel.config file as disabled

Reconfiguring Exim for the new mailserver...

I am not tech savvy when it comes to servers as I said, will this affect the functioning of my site? I don't care about sending and receiving emails through the forum all I care for is that people will be able to post as usual and they site will run normally. I am on a dedicated and my site keeps on giving the "took too long to respond ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT" almost on a daily basis. Right this moment the site is running very poorly even after have the Dovecot disabled.

Please HELP.

Thank you!

What are the server specs?

What is the average visitor count, activity level?

Has the server ever been tuned?
Specifically for InnoDB?

On Dovecot, if you are not using a mail client to check for mail via iMap or POP then it's not really needed. Even then you don't need it for POP. It's just a service (server) that offers many more features/benefits than the base line exim/postfix/smtp services do. I ran for a long time on my servers without it, but once I enabled a webmail interface for myself and certain users I integrated it into the system.
And honestly... what would benefit you more than anything is looking for another hosting provider other than HostGator. There are many more out there that are more knowledgeable and as cost effective.

Not sure but I can take a look, in the meantime I found this:

  • CENTOS 6.9 x86_64 kvm – host

  • WHM 54

Usually 1000-1500 users inside except at night, maybe 500-800.

I haven't had a technical person in a while, I know, my fault, sometimes is hard to find somebody really good or a trusted person. Seems like the site is placing a heavy load on the server, granted Hostgator is not expert when it comes to Xenforo but I wish they'll give me some support server/db wise and of course I wish I could get some help because this is very frustrating. You can take a look here:

www.Cotilleando.com

Sometimes it runs like a charm and all of the sudden it does crash or goes extremely slow.
