XF 2.0 Hide permanent redirect

is there a way to hide permanent redirects from thread lists after merging two threads or would that have to be a custom addon?

i know i can already use expiring redirects or just no redirects whatsoever but in the interest of not breaking external links to threads that were merged i'd rather have permanent redirects, just not have them visible in thread lists

ummm .... could you explain? i'm not quite sure what you mean (i know just enough to move around and edit files etc. but i know very little about php and other "programming" stuff)
