XF 1.4 Help with Addons and Scripts

I am sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.

And also sorry for my ignorance.

I am confused by addons and scripts for Xenforo. I did a test install and import (it went great- so much better than the disaster I had with Impex when I converted from SMF to VB). Installed it to a folder:

But....addons confuse me. I had lots of them for VB 4.2.2 on my site. I installed them (bought many of them), using the plugin manager, and that was it. I don't know PHP, or script language.

I bought the XF official addons - the photo album and resource center- but have no idea what the resource center does.

As for addons, how do they get installed? I see reference to scripts under "redirection", and am totally lost. Your documentation is great so far. Any docs I can read to give a stupid guy like me a clue?

Typically you install an add-on by uploading the contents of the file you downloaded (they are usually in an /upload folder) to the root of your website. Then you install the .XML file for the add-on from the add-on selection by browsing to it on your local drive (typically).
Instructions for the gallery are included in the archive you downloaded and extracted (hopefully).

Easiest thing to do is grab the Add On Installer by Chris Deeming and install that first. Then you can just link them to the RM here (for the free ones) and install that way, or for paid ones you just browse to it and it uploads and installs it automatically. That is for MOST add-ons. Some of the larger ones won't work due to certain factors.

The resource manager is for offering resources for download, etc.

When you refer to scripts, I presume you mean redirection scripts.
You will need to install the relevant one if you want to ensure existing links from your vB installation are automatically redirected to the equivalent new link in your XF installation.
