Has Elon Musk lost his mind or?…

That's no different to the war on Medicare here in Australia. Everyone thinks that everything should be for free.
It's now costing us a lot of money to see the GP when we get sick than it used to.
Some don't even bulk bill anymore.

Going to the dentist is so expensive that nobody can afford it.
On the flip side, you could be in America where every single healthcare matter is a battle with insurance (who can just decide you’re too expensive and not bother, and regularly do) or just hand you a bill for tens of thousands of dollars.

Plenty of people in the US stay working for companies they hate because their boss covers their healthcare.

Insurance is disgraceful.
You guys need Medicare.

But that’s kinda the point. People don’t “want to pay for it” but they also don’t want to be royally screwed either by profiteering companies. Trouble is the moment you start talking about some kind of collective scheme that everyone pays into so everyone benefits from, you’re talking about something worse than the literal devil, that dreaded socialism (which is all socialism really is, collective systems that we all contribute to so we all benefit from; it doesn’t say anything about ending capitalism or discouraging investment or anything like that)

While everyone in America has to put up with a horrible person as president. Bloke that they voted in is a dictator.
So everywhere at the moment has a yikes factor.
Man, what's your problem with Trump? The American people elected him for various reasons and that says a lot. Look, I'm not going around talking trash about your Senate President being some socialist who supports gender transitions for kids. So maybe don't talk that way about the US President.

I reckon Elon needs to be assessed for ADHD because of how hyperactive he seems to be. What a nutcase he is.

Karl marcI use the term loosely and for brevity. I'll just say he upset the marxist apple cart.
There are so few Marxists living today I doubt it was much of an upset. Or was the term Marxist also used loosely and for brevity? Or just due to a lack of being able to find the right word?

This is quite the scandal here because of the lack of coverage of the court cases. Some bad names did try to get ahead but they got jailed. It's a touchy subject more so when the UK is going through a cost of living crisis. Elon though does what Elon does. He is loud and brash.

The more you give unsavoury people attention the more they thrive. On the counter, people as a whole would like to feel their interests are safe and protected. Hence the rise of Nigel Farage. Unless you've lived in the UK, the Internet doesn't do it justice.

Only if it is the correct opinion, because that’s how free speech works now.
The hive mind in effect. One thing I've learnt is that there are no winners when it comes to politics. Much like a religion, in which the basic principle is faith, we as people are divided. The entire mantra can be seen as us vs them. Once people as a whole can collectively see through the veil, they can sit and listen and find what is in the best interests of everyone and not just the singularity.

Sadly, the Internet perpetuate a lot of our problems. Not that I'm pro censorship, far from it. I think people need to learn how to disseminate a situation.

My apologies for hijacking .

Unfortunately the polarising and algorithmic nature of social media intentionally exaggerates this effect. We can sit here and talk about echo chambers but the reality is that our brave new world stirs and agitates because that drives engagement and therefore money. We are already verging on a post-truth situation, and Meta’s plan to outsource fact checking to the community (like on X) will cement that at scale for a whole new audience.

More tweets like this please Elon (y)
You mean more inaccurate ones?

There was an enquiry about this in 2015 which wrapped in 2022 at a cost of £180 million, the previous government (who are now for some reason calling for another enquiry) did nothing with the recommendations from the previous enquiry, and the person Elon is replying to there has never been in government to have any ability to do anything about it anyway. Being UK-based I would have thought you'd know this lol.

It's obviously an abhorrent issue and more should be being done about it, but given the fact the Conservatives were in power in various guises from 2010 up until 6 months ago, when all of this actually happened, it would be more reasonable to ask why they didn't do more to stop it in the 14 years they had the ability to, rather than a party that's been in power for 6 months. He's only decided to latch on to this issue because there's a Labour government in charge that he doesn't like and doesn't align with his political views and upcoming US Government role, if the Conservatives were still in power he would absolutely not be getting involved with it at all, because he'd have no political point to make.

So it's true that Elon doesn't actually know what he's talking about.

This is just the grumpy old man in me although to be honest I'm more amused than grumpy. I'm amused that social media previously used to report on what one had for breakfast has become such a thing that it needs to be fact checked. It is however a little irritating to see serious news outlets embedding this stuff, a lot of which is just the ramblings of the ill-informed, Musk being a prime example.
