Has Elon Musk lost his mind or?…

I won't dispute that it is something.

OK granted it's a different word. But I would think Expression probably covers more than speech though. I'm not an expert but I think most European countries are similar, are they all tyrannies?
None of them codify “freedom” the way Americans seem to think the constitution and its subsequent updates seem to think, therefore they’re all tyrannies, just not badly enough to go in and liberate?

Censorship of books is much different than allowing books to be readily available for children.

I would not be against putting Gender Queer for sale, as that is also in a private business, but I would also caution it for as long as it was wrapped (like the old Playboys at gas stations) and/or put in a cornered-off adult/sex education section.

That said, it does not belong in a library for kids under 18 to freely check out, as it's illustrated porn/borderline educational too, that you would expect not to be available to anyone online to access if they were under 18 either.

Tell me this belongs on school library shelves and explain to me in detail why kids under 18 need to (or have the right to without parental consent) see this. I would really love anyone on XenForo to explain to me why kids need to see this.

And suddenly everyone ignores this post, but talk about the UK and they’re suddenly all on it.

Either they don’t know what to say bc they realize it’s just wrong to expose young kids to all that stuff, or they’re just afraid to share their opinion.

I know what to say, I don’t believe children should be exposed to pornography.
they’re just afraid to share their opinion.
Not me - I just shared my opinion about pornography. I believe it should be censored and not available to children. I make no apologies for that. Call me old fashioned.

Sure, there’s books that contain material that shouldn’t be readily available to kids. But that’s not the same as censorship.

Kids don’t need to discover something like Fifty Shades of Grey either, but no-one is suggesting that that should be censored despite the quite detailed descriptions and depictions of domestic abuse. No one is suggesting we should readily give access to the works of Stephen King or Clive Barker to kids either, but we don’t then talk about banning them from libraries either.

Conflating the two to make a moral point is bad faith arguing.

That book is bad. What age demographic is it for and who is distributing it? I wouldn't allow my daughter to read that. Growing , changing hormones and sex is normal and we should learn about it in a safe environment but that book is a bit too much.

X was taken over by the U.S. military and it now under military control. It's purpose is to expose, destroy & arrest the politicians, celebrities, CEO's and people involved all around the world who were involved in election interfering, human trafficking, and murder of humans all around the world and many other crimes against humanity.

Elon Musk is just a cover. He does not control X. The U.S. military does. The operation has been in the public since 2016 with Trump leading the operation.

The British Monarchy has lost the fight for the 2nd time in history. First time in history was in 1776 when a group of British subjects betrayed the British Empire & fought against it & defeated the most powerful empire during that time(British Empire). They created their own country called the United States. The British Monarchy never stopped trying to destroy the United States and the war has been on-going since 1776.

Fast forward today, we the people have DESTROYED the British Monarchy

It's not old fashioned, it's the truth. Especially now with AI, people can make their "dream" girl and let it do everything they want. That's not how it works in reality (unless you pay for this girl ha-ha).

But yet again, on social media they've access to everything. I think in the UK it's now regulated with pornography by verifying your age with your ID, right? But even then they can get their hands on all types of porn with a simple Google search.

Here in Argentina it's quite common that girls create an onlyfans or cafecito (Argentinian version of OF) but the bar is quite low to create an account and start selling content. They're all 18+ of course, but it's more "normalized" as friends tell each other they should make an OF to get dollars fast with just some pics. I have some friends who're into that.

Yikes if you believe that should be in public schools for 13 year olds to access without parental consent.

I'd also toss out 50 Shades and other "graphic" (literature in these cases) romance/novels.

In middle school/high school? No thanks. College, no problem.

Edit: If I interpreted you correctly, you said 50 Shades is there, so why can't this? I drew a hard line that neither should, while you deflected with other titles.

Isn''t that the whole point of censorship? I think there can be differences between literature and video though.

My thoughts are:

  1. Some things just shouldn't be available to anyone. (videos of illegal acts such as murder, child abuse)
  2. Some should be 18+ (or however your country might define the transition between childhood and adulthood)
  3. Some should be parental guidance.
The problem with 2 and 3 is that often someone has to make judgments - especially when there is some kind of sex education defence involved. I think the answer to that is easy, if you claim sex education then it has to be parental (or teacher) guidance. But that opens another can of worms if its teacher guidance because they may have their own agenda that you may not want foist upon your child.

I never had any sex education, I just picked it up as I went along. I didn't give my children (boys) any beyond asking if they had any embarrasing questions. They said, no the teacher's already told us and I left it at that.

Great story though. My wife was travelling with the 3 year old who had a pad of paper and a crayon. After 8 hours the passengers around remarked on what a lovely and well behaved little boy. Then, with all eyes on my wife, he suddenly exclaimed very loudly "Mummy, how are babies made?" Her (very public) answer was classic: "well... mummy and daddy have a very special cuddle."

In the Netherlands they teach girls AND boys about the women’s menstruation process, how to use a condom (practicing by putting a condom on a dildo), the diseases you could get if you’ve unprotected sex with every single person and so on.

I think it’s quite important that boys also know about the menstruation process as they’ll also have to deal with it once they get a girlfriend. Here in Argentina I’m surprised that some girls don’t even know how the morning after pill works, which I, as a guy, have to explain to a female friend of mine.

Sex education is an important topic, and yes, that also includes the transgender stuff, at least the basic stuff. But all that should be taught when they’re in high school.

In the Netherlands they also cover porn in the sex education by explaining what you see in porn is not the same as real sex (even though it could provide some inspiration to try new things with your partner).

Now what’s interesting is that we started with Elon Musk and now we’re talking about sex education. What’s next?

I tried Blue Sky. It's just a Twitter clone for the most part and it reminds me of a previous iteration of Twitter's design. It's basically a left wing echo chamber, similar to how Truth Social is a right wing echo chamber, and while I'm sure it'll find it's niche audience I don't think it's going to appeal to most people. This is not the Twitter killer the left seems to think it is. Ironically, just as much as Truth Social wasn't the Twitter killer Trump thought it would be.

Hate "X" all you want (which is petty imo), but tbh the platform is continuing to grow and is less-biased than the other platforms.
Because the only "killer" is usage. Facebook only "won" because people moved on from MySpace. Eventually, people will move on from Twitter onto something else. It is inevitable. Exactly when or where, yet to be determined. There's been a million social networks that have come and gone and tried to take over Twitter, Facebook, etc, and all failed because they didn't gain traction. People are going to go where the traffic already is, simple as that.

I doubt most people who use Twitter, Facebook, etc, necessarily "like" it, but it's more like it's the only place they'll be able to connect to the people they're looking for.

Godwin's Law would suggest that the longer any Internet thread goes on, the likelihood of Hitler and/or the Nazis being discussed slowly approaches 100%. So that's where this will go (maybe it already got there, I didn't read the whole thread).

I checked stock pricing too, it doesn't look good. Better than it was but a huge reduction in price in a short space. I'm only on this thread to educate myself on this evil entity known as Elon. What I've learnt is that people are willing to die on an imaginary hill out of hatred.

I wish you all well.
History has shown people are willing to die for just about any cause you can possibly think of. Kill themselves and/or others and their make-believe god will reward them. Be as horrible as person as possible, and some politician that doesn't even know they exist will reward them. Do awful things and then write a manifesto and claim it's for the bettering of society. And on and on. The great thing about the Internet is it gave those people a voice. The bad thing about the Internet is it gave those people a voice.

When you have the mind and behavior of a leftist with a hint of socialism...
They'll say that the "guy" is crazy, lunatic or something like that, making him out to be a bad guy...
We have to get rid of those who use the "woke" agenda...
Do you think dogs like to be 'tied up'? No.
We have to think freely...
Here in Brazil we already live under the "STF" dictatorship...they order the arrest of those who think differently...
Whether you like it or not.

We have to get rid of those who use the "woke" agenda...
Sure. List them so they’re easier to find.

And isn’t wanting to get rid of people you don’t like being a bit hypocritical? You want people who think differently from you being silenced or arrested?

and the christian bible?
it can get talks about taboo subjects also.
I have a strong suspicion that “books I personally like” will be exempted. It always goes that way.

Of course, who gets to decide? What if the book I don’t consider explicit, someone else does? Where does the line get drawn? How do we know that won’t be abused?
