Guess I offended someone

i asked if anyone else was experiencing down time at my host. Admin deleted my post saying "if you are having a problem with host contact them.

YET, on page 1 alone I see people reporting outages problems with go daddy and other hosts. Is it only certain hosts you are allowed to report on here.

Glad I pay money to xenforo for this sort of BS, arbitrary censorship?

No one is offended.

As the forum description states:

"This forum is for questions about configuring your server for XenForo and how to meet your XenForo hosting needs."

The GoDaddy thread you mention actually fits into this description because it's more focused on finding an alternative host, rather than focusing on the issue itself.

On that basis I just felt the thread was off topic for this forum.

Very well. Although if I were looking for a new hosting provider I would certainly be interested in other's recent service experiences. I would want to know that a host has had a 3 day outage with no further information than

Hello,

Apologize for the inconvenience.
Our admins are already working on the issue. Kindly have your patience.
Certainly seems no different that they type of info shared about other providers but apparently mentioning this one's name is off limits. If anyone wants more detail on my experience you can PM me on the mystery host who once had good service but it appears may now have new owners. My guess is that they have been hacked, possibly a ransomware type situation, but this is a guess as they are not sharing any information on the extended outage.

The host, who has in the past been often recommended here (not godaddy), has now been down for going on 4 days. They finally communicated that a RAID drive went bad but that makes no sense since RAID arrays are designed to allow for a disk failure without interruption of service.

Tonight they sent an email asking for my userid and if I happened to have a backup of the site or database. Great, they do not even segregate their database servers.

I am sure others will continue to sign up with this host thinking they are a premium xenforo specialist. All I can say is good luck. Don't look for me to reveal it here. Maybe I will make mention of it in "off topic" as I am sure everyone reads that.

For single drive failures, yes. The RAID can take a hit on one drive without issue at all, so you are correct in that what the host is saying makes absolutely no sense as well. If you have more than one drive failure, depending on which set of drives failed, RAID may or may not be able to prevent an interruption of service.
