growing my forum/site

I've noticed xenforo isn't as huge as IPS with expanding your site beyond forums. I have purchased a license for another site, but for this site the possibility of expanding beyond forums is in the game plan. A shop could be in order along with several other things that IPS offers. I could always use wordpress of course, but that would require designing of a whole other theme to make the consistency correct and while I could, I'm exploring my options. Without being biased, can I make xenforo work or should I just go with IPS?

For many, that's one of the attractions of Xenforo: not having multiple non-forum features they don't want or need. Personally, I'd like it to stay that way.

But no platform is going to be successful if it tries to be all things to all people. It may be that for your purposes, IPS would be a better bet.
