The coders want a bunch of money to do the "intro on registration" addon. (Totally understandable).
This is something that a lot of forums can use. We use it to make our forum more friendly by having people participate at least by posting an introduction.
The new user MUST provide their name and location and introduce themselves when they register (the intro must be 60 characters minimum), telling us why they want to join, etc. The first and last name is kept private. There are custom fields for that and the introduction. The registration goes into a moderation and approval cue and alerts for each are generated at the far left of the admin/moderator screen. It looks like this:
When you click on the moderation alert, you get:
You can change their introduction message if it has errors or does not strictly comply with your forum requirements to save them from being rejected as a member for technical reasons.
Then you hit the "users awaiting approval" alert, and you get:
This shows their information, including the approval so you can review it before approving them.
The settings for this app should look like this:
This allows you to designate the custom field that you are pulling the introduction from, and the forum it will be posted into. It allows minimum character limits for the introduction, etc.
The custom fields look like this:
The intro goes into an introduction forum that you designate to welcome new users to your forum. So your members can welcome them.
I am looking for others to share the cost of this with me. In return, you will get a copy of it to use on your forum. The app will be supported by the coder. When a new version is required, if there is no extra cost, I will send it to you also. If it costs to upgrade, we will share the fee and each get a copy of it.
