XF 2.3 Grid view for nodes/categories

Hi,

I have two questions regarding XenForo customization:

1. Grid view for nodes/categories
How can I display forum nodes (categories/forums) in a grid layout instead of the default list view?
Is this possible via style properties or does it require a custom template/CSS or add-on?

2. New activity indicator (blue dot)
I’ve seen forums where a small blue dot is shown on nodes to indicate unread/new content.
How can I implement something similar?
Is this built-in or does it require template modification or an add-on?

I’m using XenForo 2.3 xenfocus theme
