Trending content weight for certain nodes/categories

Most forums have on-topic forums in addition to some off-topic ones. Some offtopic conversations do end up getting popular and big. While it is fun to see offtopic threads appearing in trending widget... The widget becomes kind of pointless if most threads appearing there are from offtopic conversations.

Might be a good idea to add a weighing option for certain nodes/categories. Also do consider showing raw data used for trending threads somewhere. This should be useful for admins to finetune their weights! Thanks.

This would be nice. Agreed. Upvoted. We focus on Dinosaurs and Reptiles, so prioritizing those would be nice.

What's needed is a limit of trending threads per forum. I have one forum where there is a lot of daily discussion that keeps content in other forums pushed to the bottom or not included at all. Anyone visiting who sees this imbalance is going to think that all we discuss is the one topic.

What I did on the home page (using an earlier Trending addon) was create a trending widget for single forums, limiting each to three trending topics, and I pushed the most popular forum towards the bottom of the stack of widgets. But that still doesn't prevent the Trending page (under What's New) from being dominated.

Thread 'Trending Content: Option to set max no. trending threads per node'

So that we get variety in trending content could we have an option to limit x no. posts from each node/forum - for example a super-busy forum could take ALL of the trending thread spots, whilst other forums miss out, despite also having some interesting threads.

We appreciate "trending" should be the most popular content, but it would be nice to have some control to be able to include some less-travelled areas of our sites too.

Tbh I like the randomness of the trending widget.
