Seems like there is less need to visit sites as google is displaying more information in the search results.

If you follow the changes Google has made over the years, they're moving towards building a knowledge base. If a visitor doesn't have to click through one of the traditional search results to find what they're looking for, that's considered a win.
It's really hurting the info dump sites designed for search engine clicks, which are often low-quality so I don't view it as a bad thing. If your site survives purely on search traffic you're doing it wrong IMO.
