GDPR and questions

Hello I have some questions regards to this company will the forums shut down at any point because of the GDPR how come you are adding them to 2.0.6 and not the all updates

How come other company's such as http://vbulletin.com and other forums not talking about this?

Does Xenforo help support people with these type of issues and why not discontinue the older updates of XenForo and force people to update?

What is needed on our end once this comes into action what do we need to do and will the newest XenForo update have Privacy Policy listed on their page with this update so we can add things into it.

Do we need to delete accounts on request, if an user has requested this?

Me personally... I'm simply blocking all EU states access to my sites that have the ability to participate by the users.
EU members see this instead, based on geo-blocking.

Unles you have very good reasons not to do this (for example the user significantly and continually violated your terms of servie and you terminated the usage contract with him):
Most likely the answer would be yes.

Thank you for your reply, so how can we provent this what do we need to do? Is there any requirements we need to follow
Such so forums is dying then I take it so no point in running forums anymore because of this ? Since XF collects info such as username, Age, IP, Email?

Wait until the version is released that will be compliant.
But there is a LOT more you are "required" to do, and most "experts" recommend engaging a lawyer to make sure you comply since the fines can be so outrageously high.

So the un-elected bureaucrats strike again. I'm okay with banning EU members and blocking IP ranges at a server level if possible, some huge disclaimer they would have to agree too if they bypass willingly. There's plenty of lawyers here too who like a challenge, if it comes to it.

Banning whole swathes of members of the human race from your forum, based purely on where they live, seems a bit drastic unless your niche is mainly local.

Although I'm no fan of EU bureaucrats, this law seems to just reinforce basic rights. Yes, it has made me think about my privacy policy and instead of something I used to have that was just there for legal reasons, I have changed it to something much clearer and transparent - letting poeple know what we do with their personal info and why. Hopefully in plain language. Plus giving them the right within reason to have any personal data available to themselves to view and/or removed which is really just something I myself would like to have on any website. I feel that is my right.

After banning EU citizens, you'll probably find that based on new rights laws eveywhere you need to ban Canadians, Australians and sooner or later US citizens.

I don't think so. There's a lot of uncertainty around GDPR that hobbyists and small business just do not have the resources to deal with should it go wrong. I'd hate to think of a world with a closed Internet, but the EU certainly seems to be pushing everyone towards that. It's a real shame...I owe a lot of success in my career to forums that brought people from all over the world together. Now folks are afraid of ridiculous consequences while attempting to provide such an environment.

Well, there's certainly a lot of paranoia. But if sites want to lose traffic due to not having a privacy policy and granting people rights over their data, then it's totally their choice.
