Galleria: The Basics

Right this second, my focus has been on coding the two projects I have due for school this week (and reading the two novels for next week too). After those are done I'm back to coding actual image uploads & display.

Since PhotoPost has released their "integration" I was curious if I could ask - in basic ballpark figures - how you look on this?
I don't mind putting up PP for a few months or longer (I have a license), but if you think you might have this released in the next few weeks, I may hold off.
If not sure, that's cool too - just thought I'd ask...

I'm in a programming mood, so once I finish my calculus due tomorrow, I plan on getting the entire upload process done (if possible) tonight. Meaning I could write a categories front end and start private beta-testing soon.

Awesome! And thank you very much for the update....
Me first for the beta! LOLOL

Sweet. Please keep me in mind for a beta and also remember I have an IPB db to play with for import.

I am ready for your beta Test too . I just can't wait to see your work in action :p

Just so everyone knows, the private beta will be on my server alone. It's gonna be opened to like 12 people (other developers, community members, etc.) to gain initial feedback while its still in development. When I open it publicly you can all download it. ;)

can we get a screenshot even if its a beta ? thanks

I'm eager for this as well. I've been a PP customer in the past and really hope I have another option instead of going back.

i really want to take look at what you did!! if that possible?

I have never tried PP but I will say from day one here I have been all about outsourcing as little as possible and this thing is going to do that and just plain rock.

I'm watching this with utmost interest. Galllery, arcade, and a particular style look are what's holding me off from moving my forum over.

That, and my darn graphics guy seems to have taken a vacation since he found a girlfriend... Sigh.

Gallery WILL be here soon, I'm very sure of it.

The arcade... well it is just a matter of time...remember the arcade is an addon for most forum software titles and I may be wrong but I don't know of any that includes an arcade natively speaking. Maybe this happens soon, maybe it doesn't , but I myself liking (a whole lot) the idea of an arcade, can do without it for now so long as the platform itself that all the addons are intended to be built for is built with the developer in mind. I personally cannot call myself a developer, but I am trying to get to that point and along that way have started making my own bbcodes and challanging myself to learn php to actually make something useful in the way of an addon for myself for a change and give something worthwhile back to the mod community eventually. What I have found so far is the simple things I tried years ago with "the other forum software" that I could not get working inside of the forum framework I was able to do with very little help ( that I got responses for 99% of the time faster than ANY other software site OSproject or paid software title period ) and with having little to no actual coding skills was able to integrate my own snippets into sidebar containers and pages which are a breeze to create. Seconds actually.

My point if I can manage to make one here with my babble is that there is notable people already working on their own mods here that actually know what they are doing (not me) and things will be getting done one byte at a time and it will get done right like everything else around here. As the bugs get ironed out this software will be ready for release and get distributed in my opinion as the best community. I did not mangle that sentence it was intentional.

A lot of people are willing to help with graphics here and back to the topic here , I know for a fact that KingK will drop something really nice or he wouldn't have started this post and I have no reservations for my words on his work. If you haven't purchased already and are serious about your forum XF imo is going to be worth grabbing I promise. I'm a noob and have gotten a whole lotta help and idea's from the folks here. Remember it is still a release candidate and already the product is solid enough for quite a few people to convert to and I don't think many "stable releases" of other software could even muster up that much. :) Check it out you won't be disappointed. If you have teamviewer I let you play around with the acp and frontend for a few via teamviewer on a testbed. Either way I will be installing galleria upon release. ( and building integrated checkers myself even if it kills me )

(ps. sorry about your graphics situation)
(pps. what are you looking for graphicswise atm)
(ppps. I promise this will be the last time I go off-topic)
(pppps.) Make suggestion about scratchpad as private user notepad overlay popup
(ppppps.) Remind self to stop babbling
