Frictionless Login (Magiclink?)

I would like to suggest a passwordless login system where the forum can send a "magic" link to the user's email and upon clicking it, logs them in. Sites like Tumblr do this functionality if you need an example. This would definitely make it easier for mobile users as well. If a better frictionless login is known, by all means.

Hmm, how would this make things easier on mobile?

Normal Login
  1. Tap link Login
  2. Enter username or email
  3. Tap into password field
  4. Enter password
  5. Tap button Login
Frictionless Login
  1. Tap somewhere to start process
  2. Enter the email
  3. Tap somewhere to submit
  4. Switch to mail app
  5. Locate the mail from inbox
  6. Open the mail
  7. Tap the link
How is that easier? It requires more steps / actions and potentially more input (if the email is longish).

It would be pretty useful though if the user has trouble entering the password (typos, forgotten, etc.).
Facebook does this AFAIK (at least they did in the past).

Typing your password will almost always be more work than even double what a Frictionless login is. My easiest password is still more steps to type it than it is for double the Frictionless login steps you laid out, and if someone is using their phone to login somewhere they likely have email notifications disabled, cutting down the Frictionless login process by two steps.
