Foroverse submitted a new resource:

Foroverse for XenForo - Connecting independent communities

Foroverse for XenForo
Share the public threads of the sections you choose with Foroverse, and keep them in step.

Foroverse helps people find the public discussions of independent forums. Every click lands on your forum.

How it works
  • Choose which sections to share, and their interests, in your admin panel or on Foroverse. Both stay in step.
  • New threads, edits and deletions reach Foroverse within a minute.
  • Only what guests can read is ever sent. Private sections...

The version on here says 1.2.1, but on the site it's 1.2.0, when you download it, it's 1.2.0.

Might wanna address this.

Thank you, this will be addressed shortly.

The only change in 1.2.1 is the add-on's icon being updated. If you're on 1.2.0, that is perfectly fine.

This kind of looks interesting, but where can we see Foroverse? I looked but could only find it as a concept

Worth noting there is already a PWA available. :)
But yes, our next steps are indeed dedicated phone apps.

I just looked, looks like reddit, or something similar.

Reddit was an inspiration. The goal of Foroverse is to make communities easier to find and help drive traffic to forums that people may not find otherwise.

You can see Foroverse at Foroverse.com!

Right now it's only available on the web, but we have plans for dedicated Android and iOS apps in the future.
I see that people can post from Foroverse to your forum? Is that right? What happens if they break your forum rules, like advertising stuff for sale, obscenities, copyright infringements, hate speech?

EDIT: aha just looking through the terms…

Yes, that's right, but only if you want it. Posting from Foroverse is off by default, and only you can switch it on in your admin panel.

If you do switch it on, nothing gets around your forum's rules. A member first has to link their own account on your forum, and everything they post goes in under that account, through your normal permissions, flood limits, approval queue and spam checks. So a banned member can't post, and if you moderate new members' posts, those go into your approval queue as usual.

Moderation works exactly as it does today: your team can edit, move or delete anything, and when a thread or post is removed on your forum, it disappears from Foroverse within a minute. The member is answerable to your rules just as if they had posted on your site directly.

And if it isn't for you, just leave it switched off. Everything else on Foroverse works without it. Also worth noting that you can customize your community page on Foroverse, as well as a pinned note, which you can use for rules for example.

Hmmm… I might try this. Nothing quite like being an early adopter.

I see it is free. Is it going to stay free or might it become paid? It’s not that I’m mean, just a non-profit. Presumably you have to make money somehow.

Great to hear, early adopters are exactly who we want feedback from! :)

Yes, it's free, and it stays free for forums. The add-on, connecting your forum and being listed on Foroverse will never need a subscription. Matt and I do this purely out of passion.

We do want to cover our costs, so Foroverse can eventually show a few ads. They're our own in house ads, no ad networks or trackers, and they never appear on community pages.

So "Zoints" for the modern age? 🤔

Yes, very similar. Zoints was only for vBulletin, whereas Foroverse works on XenForo, Invision Community, ForumSpark, and other platforms through RSS. We do plan on making dedicated add-ons for more platforms as time allows.

How are feeds to Foroverse shown to Google? Will Google consider it duplicate content which could have adverse effects?
