Yeah, for testing I had to use the same from xengallery (wasn't sure if it was Nodes For Tabs or what). It's definitely doable.
Were you able to figure this out?
I know it's coming from .Popup .arrowWidget class but it's from the navigation.css or something, and not from a template which I can replace directly.

Silliest thread ever?

Doesn't even bother to explain what FontAwesome is, or link to a website about it.

I know. Google to the rescue...

Some of the icons, I could see using, but I prefer my graphical versions of some things.

Your opinion is that it is the silliest.

For some, FA provides a simple solution for their issues, how is that silly?

Myself, I prefer a mix. I am a huge image/icon fan.

"Silly"... sheesh. Keep your graphical versions, I'm sure no one will call your choice silly....

Search. I'm nobody's babysitter. ;)

Why does it need all that CSS to make it work? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of a simple icon based font?
Best way I can explain that, without using technical terms (and how I interpret it), is it uses some form of font sprite, much like an image sprite.

You're really only loading 1 font with many designs. Which is why it loads very quickly as to opposing having to download and load many fonts, which would slow it down.

Why, is vBulletin planning on adding many fonts and calling it an advance feature for modern designs?

I played with it a bit, see how it works... I'd prefer a font where say A = An Apple Icon, and so on, then just load 1 font file instead of dozens of small images, and no css needed.
