XF 2.2 Follow a user anonymously

Is it possible to follow a user, but without having them notified via an alert ?

I suspected as much. I suppose people may argue it's an invasion of privacy, or a bit like stalking.

In my case it's to do with being a moderator and just keeping an eye on the usual suspects. It's more easy to see their all latest activity in one place your news feed as opposed to clicking on their profile one by one.

There's actually an advantage to them knowing that they are being followed by staff: It may dissuade them from some inappropriate posting.

Yes that did occur to me and is a good point, but I’d rather they show their true colours.

Also we sometimes like to moderate anonymously. So another mod might delete a post but the user assume it’s me because they know I have my eye on them.
